Introduction:

Google has released Android 11 first developer preview back in February. From then all the enthusiasts like us are trying to achieve root. However now the wait has ended. Yesterday I have gone through a tweet from developer of Magisk that now root is possible on devices running Android 11.

Prerequisites:

1. Your phone's bootloader should be unlocked.
2. You should have a custom recovery like TWRP installed on your phone.

Procedure:

1. Download the latest Magisk release from the GitHub. At the time of writing this blog, the latest one is 20.4

Download: https://github.com/topjohnwu/magisk_files

2. For safeside, download the uninstaller as well. Not all the phones support magisk and this is extremely helpful when you run into any bootloops. In case of any issues, you can just flash the uninstaller zip instead of flashing entire OS and loosing entire data on your phone.

3. Now boot into your custom recovery. I used TWRP. Click on Install and select the magisk release zip which you have downloaded in step and flash it.

4. Once done, format cache and dalvik. Then reboot to system. That's it in few moments after boot, you will see magisk application in your app launcher.

5. If you face bootloop issue, long press power+volume up button to boot into recovery, flash the uninstaller zip file which you have downloaded in step 2. Once done, format cache and dalvik then reboot to system. That's it you are out of problem.

I have successfully installed and rooted my device Poco F1 running Android 11 Developer Preview 2.1

New version of magisk application and its features:

The Ul of the application is completely changed. The app now looks more adhere to Google's material design.

The now has some beautiful themes baked in so that you change look and feel as per your choice.

The application now looks more streamlined and simple. Instead of sidebar, all the app navigation is moved to bottom of the screen for easy access on large mobile devices. Not just that now the app respects the theme of your phone (dark and light).

I hope this article helped you in rooting your android phone. If you have any queries, please post them in the below comment section and I will answer them.
